Hastings, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand
"My main objective for the past year has been working on reforming 1737 - the mental health helpline. I am in constant talks with Chair of the Hawke's Bay Mental Health Association and Chair of the HBDHB Consumer Council. I am in liaison with the central government regarding the rectification of this helpline as it is having concerning issues regarding timely responses on our rangatahi. This has been a very serious issue that I feel privileged to be able to work on with Hawke's Bay Health Professionals. Being on the Hastings Youth Council is also an opportunity that is conducive for helping the youth demographic in our community along with grassroots organisations and origins. I have been at the forefront of acknowledging our youth and the respective changes they want to see in our community. Working frequently with Mayor Sandra Hazlehurst has been an honour and I hope to be able to employ the leadership and governance skills garnered from these experiences in my first year of law at UC next year."
