• participated in contract negotiation and drafting of investment projects in gold mining, potash, and natural gas exploration; • conducted legal due diligence; • consulted and advised clients on a range of matters including natural resources, tax, customs, investment, labour, intellectual property, and business; • facilitated company formation for clients; and • translated legal documents from Amharic to English, and vice-versa.
The organization was part of a private business organizations consortium that was led by Gebeya Inc. and assigned to undertake a Program, Mesirat Entrepreneurship Program. The program, which is supported by Mastercard Foundation, is designed to support 100 gig platforms and create 1 million jobs. My employer was tasked with researching to supplement the design and implementation of the Program. The activities I undertook include: • co-designed the research methodology and developed data collection tools; • co-conducted quantitative and qualitative data analysis; • co-conduced research on the gig economy in Ethiopia and its potential across 11 sectors (agriculture, manufacturing, construction, health, education, professional services, domestic work, transportation, sports, arts, and entertainment); and • developed potential gig platform models across the above sectors.
This activity involved the design and implementation of 3-events comprising a Youth Advocacy Month in August 2023, following the International Youth Day (August 12th). Each event had a specific theme: (1) amplifying young people's voices in consensus building and peace process; (2) bridging the gap between potential and economic opportunities; and (3) empowering the next youth generation. • Co-reviewed program documents to supplement the design of the events; • Co-designed each event with interactive sessions and activities; • Co-implemented the events that were attended by a total of 500 young people; and • Developed the final report for the 3-events.
I was part of a team comprising 3 youth advisors tasked to design and implement a 2-days Youth Forum entitled "Empowering Young People's Agenda Setting in Consensus Building Process" that aimed to bring 100 young people from different regions of Ethiopia to share their perspectives amongst themselves as well as key stakeholders. • Conducted a desk review of program documents (e.g, final reports of projects) and normative framework on youth and peace at international (namely, the UN Security Council Resolution 2250(2015), regional (e.g. AU Youth Charter and the AU Continental Framework for Youth, Peace, and Security) and national (e.g., FDRE Constitution, National Dialogue Commission Establishment No. 1261/2021) levels; • Co-conducted 4 focus group discussions (2 in Addis Ababa, 1 in Dire Dewa, and 1 in Kombolcha) with a total of 50 young people to supplement the design of the forum; • Co-designed the forum that included informative and interactive sessions; and • Prepared a post-event proceeding booklet disseminated to key government stakeholders and final project report.
