I founded the Polestar Capital Circular Debt Fund (PCDF): a €240mln direct lending fund for circular production companies. The fund financed Dutch production facilities where an innovative technology or business model was applied for the 1st or 2nd time. By financing specifically these production facilities, the fund aimed to enable circular innovators to proof their technology and business model to the market, in order to accelerate the circular economy transition. In my role as a fund director I established the fund, raised funds, led the team, and coordinated the portfolio management and fund management activities. I also participated in the Investment Committee, Credit Committee and Valuation Committee. By the end of 2025 I succesfully sold the fund to Colesco Capital.
Polestar Capital is an impact fund manager that finances the transition to a sustainable economy (an economy acting within the planetary boundaries). We finance impactful projects not (yet) or not in full financed by private equity, banks and other financiers/investors. By acting where other financiers don't, we help entrepreneurs/developers to get their projects realised and accelerate the renewable energy, decarbonisation, e-mobility, sustainable housing and circular economy transitions.
Between July 2017 and December 2021 I worked as an Impact Investment Associate, Impact Investment Manager and Senior Impact Investment Manager for the Limburg Energy Fund, with a focus on structured project finance transactions with circular economy projects. The Limburg Energy Fund is a regional impact investment fund of €235mln, with funding from the European Investment Bank and the Province of Limburg. The fund provides (subordinated) debt and/or equity to support the energy transition and circular economy in the Dutch province of Limburg.
Financial Access (carve out ING Bank) realizes, scales and replicates access to finance solutions in agriculture value chains in Africa and South East Asia. Assignments: - Diagnostic analysis of the global consultancy activities, alignment with the company’s partners (shareholders), and mutual design of a new global strategy - Assistance with the implementation of a new CRM system for supply chain finance platform FACTS Africa (www.factsafrica.com) in East Africa - Management of a data collection, credit scoring and loan design project for palm oil farmers in Bahar (sub- project of Berbak Green Prosperity Program) - Initiation of an Indonesian fintech company focused on rural (Bank Perkreditan Rakyat) loan origination services - Support of a fundraising campaign for FACTS, including (i) development a financial model, (ii) hiring a crowdfund campaign manager, and (iii) acting as counterparty for institutional investors - General support with business development - Managing a team with associates, analysts and interns
Assignment: Support with the development of a venture capital impact investment fund (including the contracting of service providers, finalizing the fund model etc.), and preparation of an investment proposal in order to demonstrate investment analysis capacity. The fund is now live, see teaser.
