I am back in Ireland and, leveraging the knowledge I gained in the wine and spirits industry while working at Viña San Pedro, along with my strong customer service and sales skills, I have been given the opportunity to join O’Briens Wines as an assistant manager. This role allows me to apply my expertise and passion for wine to enhance customer experiences and drive sales in the store. Additionally, my previous experience in training and development has proven tremendously useful in enhancing the skills of the staff I work with. The role has also given me the chance to experience being part of the business operations and to view the learning and development process from a learner’s perspective.
Back in Chile, I worked as an independent professional delivering learning and development solutions for various companies and public organizations. This role allows me to tailor programs that meet the unique needs of each client, fostering growth and enhancing workforce capabilities. Additionally, I had the opportunity to conduct research on alumni employability for one of the most prestigious universities in Chile. This experience not only deepened my understanding of the skills needed in the job market but also helped me align my training solutions with industry demands, ensuring they effectively prepare individuals for successful careers.
While studying English in Ireland, I took on a commercial role focused on promoting awareness of Leyda wines. I conducted nationwide visits to all O’Briens stores, delivering training sessions to sales teams to enhance their product knowledge and equip them to better communicate the distinctive qualities of the wines. I represented Leyda at wine festivals organized by O’Briens, engaging directly with customers through guided tastings, product sampling, and detailed tasting notes. Additionally, I led tasting events for BWG’s customers at Spar and Eurospar, presenting on the Leyda wine region, the winemaking process, and the factors that set these wines apart. This experience deepened my expertise in the wine & spirits industry while refining my communication, training delivery, and customer engagement skills.
As the head of the learning and development area, I led a team of four specialists to align training initiatives with strategic business goals. We designed and implemented comprehensive training programs that addressed organizational needs, ensuring our workforce was well-prepared for challenges. Delivering training through classroom sessions, virtual platforms, and blended learning, we engaged a diverse audience. I used data-driven insights to refine our programs based on feedback, enhancing their effectiveness. Managing an annual training budget of €500,000, I prioritized cost-effective solutions and efficient resource allocation. I promoted a culture of continuous learning, coaching managers and leaders to strengthen their skills, and implemented a cutting-edge Learning Management System (LMS) to streamline training delivery.
