About

Craig is an accomplished geoscientist and engineer known for bridging gaps between diverse disciplines within applied earth science. His expertise spans geophysics, geotechnical engineering, hydrogeology, and machine learning, underpinned by a strong foundation in applied mathematics and engineering design. His diverse domain knowledge, combined with a problem-solving mindset and proficiency in Python make Craig highly adaptable, capable of serving as both an expert consultant solving novel problems and a software developer creating tools to empower others. As co-founder and VP of Technology at EMerald Geomodelling, Craig has spearheaded the development of advanced data processing and modelling tools, including machine learning workflows, 3D visualization, and geospatial analysis. His contributions are informed by hands-on experience in over 15 large-scale airborne EM site investigations across multiple countries and industries. In most cases, he led the production of interpreted geological models using EMerald’s custom software and communicated results to clients in multiple languages. Craig’s talents as a researcher, communicator, and innovator have been recognized by numerous agencies, universities, and industry societies, including the National Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada. His expertise is further demonstrated by his many publications, which include six peer-reviewed journal articles, three scientific book chapters, and dozens of articles presented at international conferences. He has also coordinated technical proposals and engaged in research funded by the EU and Norwegian Research Council.

Experience

  • VP Technology & Co-Founder at EMerald Geomodelling
    Aug 2019 - Present · 6 yrs 11 mos

Developing machine learning algorithms to integrate geotechnical and geophysical data to cut ground investigation costs. EMerald Geomodelling reduces geological risk by providing seamless ground conditions early in infrastructure projects. I am providing the missing link between complicated geophysical data and deliverables that are relevant for infrastructure project owners and consultants.
