CompEx certified Electronics technician with 22 years experience both onshore & offshore, ATSEP Quallified technician working on a host of Air Traffic related equipment.
In addition to looking after the legacy equipment at RAF Lossiemouth, I also look after the new equipment being brought in by Project Marshall all over Scotland.
Pretty much doing the same thing, on the same equipment, with the same people as I did in the RAF whilst working at Ground Radio at RAF Lossiemouth.
Responsible for maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair of all HRH offshore advanced gas detection, sampling and pumping systems to component level as well as installation and commissioning of the equipment. Working on a variety of equipment such as 3-phase motors, electrical isolators, pneumatic systems, peristaltic and diaphragm pumps, intrinsically safe circuits, mass spectrometers, gas detectors, electrical control panels, purged systems and data acquisition units. Also responsible for preparing the certification folders and associated paperwork for third party inspection, maintaining the ATEX quality management system and all workshop risk assessments. As part of the R&D team, the design and building of HRH products such as gas-in-mud detectors and constant volume degassers. This involved everything from initial concept, component selection, PCB design, 2D CAD drawings, electrical wiring diagrams, manufacturing and testing. Also responsible for ensuring all paperwork is in order and products comply with the relevant ATEX standards as well as taking them through the ATEX certification process.
Supervising Shift Technician responsible for, and carrying out, all of the routine maintenance, fault diagnosis and rectification of a wide range of Airfield navigational aids. Also this includes RADAR and Communication equipment, modems, Ground to Air UHF and VHF radios, Air Traffic Control communication and data systems, display equipment’s, remote control subsystems. mobile Satcomms, Digital Telecommunications and associated cabling infrastructure.
