Norway
I am a senior advisor in the research administration of BI Norwegian Business School, specializing in bibliometrics, impact, scholarly publishing and research evaluation. My academic background is in the psychology and neuroscience of human sensory systems. I obtained my PhD in vision science from the University of Nottingham in 2006 and have worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, Bradford School of Optometry & Vision Science in the UK and as a visiting research fellow at Buskerud University College in Kongsberg, Norway. I have been funded by the Royal Society, the Wellcome Trust, Brain Journal and the Research Council of Norway. To date, I have published over twenty papers in peer-reviewed journals and the scientific press, one book chapter and numerous other conference abstracts, letters and book reviews (see https://aaenstockdale.wordpress.com/my-publications/). My h-index - like everybody else's - varies depending on how comprehensive the underlying data source is, so it is either 14 (Google Scholar, Dimensions) or 12 (OpenAlex, Web of Science, Scopus)… take your pick. I have acted as a peer-reviewer for Journal of Vision, Vision Research, Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science, Vision Sciences Society, the Applied Vision Association, the European Safety and Reliability Association, and Publications journal. I have served on the committee of the Applied Vision Association where I acted as a trustee, and I currently serve on the editorial board of the Journal of Research Management & Administration (JoRMA). I lead the Norwegian anti-monarchist campaign (Norge som republikk) and I am on the board of the Association of European Republican Movements. Previously, I worked as a Principal Consultant and Technical Lead in Ergonomics and Human Factors at Lloyd's Register in Oslo, Norway... and I used to build hot-air balloons for Richard Branson.
