I am a museum professional for more than 20 years with a background in early modern history and art history. I specialised in decorative art and design focussing on the culture of clothing in early modern European courts. My education and professional training cover different disciplines: History, Art history, Philology and Historical Sciences. My publications reflect the various topics I have carried out for my research. They all explore from different perspectives the ways in which archival sources interact with object based studies. Addressing research on dress and textile, I aim to restore the threads of history, material culture and visual culture.
DRESSING THE NEW WORLD: The Trade and the Culture of Clothing in the Spanish Colonies 1600-1800. What effect did the successful marketing of European products have on the New World at the beginning of the 18th century? And how should one go about studying the European Fashion and Textiles that transformed the way people dressed in the Spanish colonies? Official reports, political correspondence and accounts written by travellers are a rich source of information that allows us to write the history of fabrics and fashions and to study their impact, consumption and distribution in early modern times. Taken together these sources offer a unique manner in which to envisage and articulate textiles and dress in the mix of cultures of the New World from the Spanish conquest in 1521 up to the 19th century, and map up how the global market connected different parts of the world in early modern time.

Post doctoral research fellow at the V&A museum in London for the project "Fashioning the Early Modern: Creativity and Innovation in Europe1500-1800" funded by HERA (Humanities in the Research Area) investigating creativity and innovation that lay behind the creation and spread of fashionable goods in early modern Europe.
