DPhil Research Fellow at KEMRI-Wellcome Trust/University of Oxford, specializing in the design, evaluation, and scale-up of equitable health interventions. My doctoral research focuses on assessing acceptability, power, trust, and equity in an intervention to improve child health outcomes. With a strong foundation built over 6+ years in complex research environments, I specialize in blending rigorous Qualitative and Quantitative Research Methodologies to translate evidence into scalable public health action. My experience spans the full research cycle, from co-designing interventions and conducting extensive stakeholder engagement to leading analytical research and monitoring & evaluation. I am passionate about ensuring that health interventions are not just effective, but are also feasible, acceptable, and equitable within real-world health systems, with a particular focus on improving maternal and child health outcomes.
My PhD is nested within the implementation science workpackage of the CHAIN-Proof of Principle Trial (CHAIN-PoP) which examines a bundle of two interventions; a health system strengthening intervention and unconditional cash transfer at discharge, in a before/after design with the primary aim of establishing whether they are feasible, acceptable, and positively impact mechanisms anticipated to lead to improved child health outcomes following an acute illness. Specifically, my DPhil focuses on examining the intervention's acceptability, trust and equity as essential implementation outcomes that will determine the ultimate success and scalability of this critical post-discharge care intervention.
Conducting a set of linked activities (literature reviews, review of existing data, conducting new empirical work and consultations with stakeholders) under the Childhood Acute Illness and Nutrition Network (CHAIN) aimed at improving outcomes of young children discharged from the hospital. The activities aim to better understand the discharge and post-discharge process from the point of view of relevant stakeholders and to work with those stakeholders to co-design, iteratively implement and evaluate a package of interventions that can be introduced through the Kenyan health system
