👨🏾🔬 Research shapes my everyday life - be it in the development of high-quality machines for adhesive processing, in testing individual process requirements or in my discovery tours around the globe. At SM Klebetechnik, as a mechanical engineer in the Research & Development department, I am responsible for two core areas. On the one hand, we carry out project-related tests for adhesive bonding technologies on system installations and thus create innovative special solutions according to customer requirements. This is done in direct exchange with the customers in order to optimise the performance of the respective systems in the manufacturing process. On the other hand, we are constantly developing our own products for the adhesives industry and application techniques. From melting, pumping, dosing to application, the entire adhesive application process can be realised in our technical centre. Our adhesive systems are used in a wide range of industries, e.g. automotive, wood, construction, foil, label, paper and textile. I was previously able to contribute my research spirit at the Jülich Research Centre, which concentrates on benefit-inspired basic research. The focus here is on the relationships between the research fields of energy, information and sustainable bioeconomy. Through my work at the research centre, I learned how to design the experimental set-up in an economically efficient way - entirely in the interest of our customers. In my work, direct customer contact is important to me in order to be able to pick up on requirements and needs for development. Therefore, the commissioning of newly developed production systems is also one of my tasks - also at our customers' sites all over the world.
