l first learned to sculpt by observing and assisting my father, Claud Nyanhongo, a prominent artist among the first generation Zimbabwe sculptors. After achieving a Diploma in Marketing and Business Management, I set out to pursue a career as a professional Sculptor in 1996. Striving to find my own identity amongst the predominantly figurative sculptors in my family, l found myself encapsulated by the metamorphic qualities within the abstract forms, surrounding me in nature, and particularly within the raw stones themselves. I use hand tools to sculpt stone. I listen to the stone as I shape form and feeling into it. My sculptures are exhibited in national and international galleries, and belong to the permanent gallery collection of: the Chapungu Sculpture Park, Harare, the Eton Gallery in England, Perth, Australia, San Diego, California, the World Art Foundation in Eerbeek, Holland, and the IMBA Gallery in Hamburg. I also regularly conduct workshops for amateur and professional sculptors.
