About

Estuarine and marine ecologist with 45 years experience, working initially for what is now the Scottish Environment Protection Agency then a series of electricity utilities. Retired from a senior management position as head of the coastal & marine sciences team in EDF's new nuclear build planning directorate in 2018, then worked for several months of each year as an expedition guide and lecturer on small cruise ships operating in Arctic and Antarctic waters and around the UK. Now a student of archaeology at the University of Aberdeen. Home is near Inverness, Scotland.

    Maintenance of BEEMS programme of marine and coastal studies supporting new nuclear build within EdF, completing a 1st iteration at Bradwell then focussing on Hinkley Point and Sizewell. Supported acquisition of Development Consent Order for Hinkley Point C. Supported development of same for Sizewell C. Utilised BEEMS outputs to secure heat sink solutions (cooling water intake and outfall locations) for both sites. Managed staff responsible for Flood Risk Assessment at Sizewell and advised on aspects of cross-shore design. As a member of WANO, advised on cooling water management issues at Taishan, China.
