After graduating from South Texas College of Law I began work as a litigation Associate for Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough.
I assisted with drafting various motions, helped with preparing for depositions, and assisted in developing case strategy. I also observed a variety of hearings and depositions.
For my judicial internship with the Texas Supreme Court, I worked in Justice Boyd's chambers. During my time there I helped draft three different internal memos for the Court. The first one was an internal memo solely for Jusitce Boyd about a petition before the Court and my recommendation concerning it. Also, I helped draft two other memos for the whole Court. While I was there I worked alongside Justice Boyd's law clerks and staff attorney who helped me edit and guide me through the research process for these memos.
During my time at Arnold and Itkin, I attended various hearings and depositions around the county. I drafted different types of motions and demand letters. Also, I helped draft an appellate brief for the First Court of Appeals in Houston. Lastly, I helped prepare witnesses and attorneys for depositions.
For Judge Weems, I was assigned various legal research tasks pertaining to matters pending before the Court. After completing the research, I would orally brief Judge Weems on the matter. During my time with the Court, I observed countless civil hearings and trials. Lastly, I participated in a Summer Clerk Mock Trial competition and my team finished as semi-finalists.
