Product Technologist for SDA, Lighting and DIY
Working with Overseas Sourcing Offices on development and introduction of new products Ensuring that products sold by B&Q comply with current legislation and company quality/social responsibility policies within defined product areas Ensuring vendors, manufacturers and third party inspection companies fully comply to the legal, quality, safety and social responsibility standards Investigation and resolution of product failures In conjunction with the Commercial Category, ensuring that all product / vendor introductions are delivered on time, in full and error free Ensuring quality assurance processes meet the current and future needs of the business Communicating all relevant information to key stake holders Ensure that B&Q meet and exceed current and impending QA and legislative business requirements and communicate recommendations
Design and development of new products (using Solid Designer 3D and ProEngineer CAD) from concept through into production, including preliminary costings. Involvement with suppliers on components and design. Working with Production and Production Engineering on introduction of new products and process improvements on existing products. Product Approval testing witnessed by relevant approval authorities. Administration of CAD system including introduction of new PDM system (WorkManager) into company.
