TxDot funded project; Researching performance of post-installed shear connectors in non-composite, continuous span bridges; Collaborate with exceptional structural engineering faculty and student researchers at The University of Texas at Austin; learn and practice vital heavy machinery skills and relevant safety guidelines
Awarded Employee of the Month, August 2012; Provided professional tours of The University of Texas campus and practiced public speaking ability; Informed prospective students and families of undergraduate admissions sequence and demonstrated ability to effectively convey key information; Responsible for regular transport of very important personnel to and from meetings and events.
Investigated affects of Alkali Silica Reaction (ASR) on reinforced concrete members. Tested and monitored how ASR influences the strength and serviceability of r.c. beams without shear reinforcement. Maintained a safe and clean working environment on the lab floor; assisted with the layout, assembly, and placement of reinforcement cages; batched materials for concrete mix design; assisted with concrete pouring and finishing; collected extensometer data and updated measurement logs for concrete expansions; conducted cylinder tests on concrete cores and calculated relevant material properties (Ec, f'c, fr, fct); complied to QAQC procedures mandated by project sponsor; helped lab mates with testing.
Assisted with structural design of steel, winged toll booth canopies for Austin Bergstrom International Airport; Assisted with preliminary research for wood building project; Checked parking garage ramp reinforcement shop drawings for Austin Central Library; Gained exposure to structural design of low-rise buildings and bridge projects; Prepared engineer's cost estimates for construction; Extensive use of RISA3D, AutoCAD, AISC Steel Design Manual, VULCRAFT design guides, ASCE-7 Wind Provisions, Excel, and IBC2012; Moderate use of MicroStationan, NDS for Wood Construction.
