Manni is an interdisciplinary scholar whose research focuses on the intersection of technology and culture. Their work encompasses Hong Kong Studies and its diaspora, Cultural Studies and cultural politics, as well as the ethical, social, and cultural implications of AI. Manni specifically investigates racial, gender, and cultural bias in artificial intelligence from a socio-technical perspective. Currently an Academic Visitor at the University of Cambridge, Manni's research aims to explore the responsible use of AI through the lens of Cultural Studies and Social Justice. They are an Alistair Harvey Foundation Scholar and were previously an HSBC Scholar, with academic training in Cultural Studies, Computer Science, and Human-Computer Interaction.
Humanimal.books is an experimental bookstore dedicated to human-and-animal. Humanimal hopes to reflect upon different species in the city by re-examining the relationship between human and non-human animal in various media such as children's books and comics, literary works, social issues and theoretical research. Humanimal.books is one of the particianpts of this session's One Seventh Bookshops Project, a community project sponsored by the C. C. Wu Cultural and Education Foundation. Humanimal 是一間以「動物」為主題的在地實驗書店。人作為其中一種動物，與非人動物之間其實是一種「你中有我，我中有你」的親密關係，因此人應該以更尊重謙卑的態度對待生命。秉持這個理念，Humanimal 希望透過童書漫畫、文學作品、社會議題以及理論研究等各類讀物，同大家一齊以動物為鏡，反思城市中不同物種的生存空間，重新審視人與動物的關係，以及生命的價值。
