Dr Thomas is the Managing Director and Director of Interventional Cardiology at Premier Heart Care Ltd. He underwent cardiology fellowship training at the Royal Free Hospital and interventional cardiology fellowship training at Emory University. A former senior lecturer at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the University of the West Indies, Dr Thomas also held faculty positions at Emory and Johns Hopkins Universities. He has trained medical students, residents and cardiology fellows and has published articles in peer reviewed journals. He is passionate about providing state-of-the-art cardiovascular services that are accessible to developing communities. Dr Thomas is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, London.
Responsibilities: (1) Clinical Cardiology: Patient care for ambulatory patients at Premier Heart Care's offices and Tobago Regional Health Authority's cardiology clinic (2) Interventional Cardiology: Management of patients undergoing coronary angiography and angioplasty at affiliated cardiac catheterization labs in Trinidad and Tobago. (3) Strategic Planning: Clinical, noninvasive and interventional cardiology services. (4) Medical Education: Training of physicians and cardiology staff.
Co-Director of Johns Hopkins University and University of Trinidad and Tobago program training cardiology fellows, cardiology residents and cath lab staff in the management of patients undergoing cardiac catheterization and coronary angioplasty.
