Pharmacist specialised in R&D related to Drug Discovery from Natural Products with experiences in Plant Biotechnology, Phytochemistry, Pharmacognosy and Ethnopharmacology in France and abroad, my goal is to actively support the valuation of natural products as innovative sources of drug discovery in Pharmacy. Thinking "outside the box", I am confident that new technologies as synthetic biology, metabolomic or any other technics of screening economically suitable for Natural products harnessing are the challenges of today and tomorrow. Passion about Plants and Nature drives my creativity to find new ways to promote the unsuspected potential of natural products. Good interpersonal skills and experienced adaptability led me to successfully collaborate in both industrial and public renowned laboratories. Eager to learn and open minded, I stay connected with actual Research trends in the field of natural products based drug discovery. Ideally, I would develop carreer in R&D in a pharmaceutical industry where technological and therapeutic innovation is a key target to give back a place to Natural products in the field of cosmetic, nutraceutic and pharmacy. Created in December 2015, PAT Zerbaz is a subsidiary of Plant Advanced Technologies PAT SA, whose objective is to promote natural substances from the endemic and exotic flora of Reunion Island by drawing on the know-how and innovative technologies of production and extraction of new active ingredients from its parent company. In this context I am in charge of structuring and managing scientific research projects at PAT Zerbaz, including: Development and Management of the « Biodiversity » Research Program aimed at identifying original plant-based active ingredients of tropical origin for cosmetic, pharmaceutical and agrochemical applications. Related activites - Selection of plants with high potential in accordance with the various specifications. - Sourcing of genetic resources in accordance with current regulations. - Evaluation of the agronomic performance of each species on aeroponics systems. - Phytochemical exploration of aeroponically grown species for the identification of original phytomarkers. - Evaluation and interpretation of first-line biological activity test. Coordination of a European-funded Public/Private Research Project for the identification and valorization of Plant-based Active Ingredients from Reunion Island. Diversification of PAT Zerbaz's research capacities through the development of a network of public, private, local and regional partnerships in the Reunion Island/Indian Ocean area. Coordination of the scaling up of PAT Zerbaz’s R&D activities transferring and implementing quality management system.
The Joint Laboratory of Phytochemistry UHS/IRPF is specialised in Natural Products research from plants and aims to find innovative bioactive compounds in the Cambodian flora for cosmetic, nutraceutical and pharmaceutical applications. I am in charge to manage research and development activities which consists in: Research of new plant products in the Cambodian flora. - Collecting datas from literature reviews around traditional uses of plants, phytochemical originalities, supply sustainability. - Conducting ethnobotanical surveys: designing studies and interviews, collecting datas, analysing datas. - Identifying vegetable by-products from industries. Field collection of plant samples for botanical conservation and phytochemical investigations. - Gathering datas on the field for botanical identification and conservation (Herbaria, pictures…) Phytochemical studies - Producing plant extracts by Solid/Liquid extraction, Liquid/Liquid extraction or distillation Identifcation and isolation of interesting compounds through chemical analysis: TLC, HPLC, GC-MS, UV-visible Spectrophotometry) Identification, set-up and development of ethical and sustainable vegetable raw material supply chain with local communities - Conducting field work for supply chain identification and assessment (Quality, value-chain) - Managing interaction between PIERRE FABRE supply department, local NGOs, government and local communities. Building and managing projects through Public/Private partnership to develop new collaborations with local NGOs, academic and operational partners. - Identifying new partners - Writing proposals, coordinating partners Result: In one year, success in obtaining grants of 440 000 euros from two different International funders.
Institut de recherche et développement PIERRE FABRE - laboratoire actif végétaux I was responsible for Isolation and structure elucidation of bioactive compounds from seeds extracts. - Developed extraction methods and processes to have the best yields. - Controlled extracts phytochemical profiles using analyses based on self-designed identification methods. - Assessed different preliminary processes using physical treatment on row materials in order to increase bioactive compounds levels. - Monitored bioactive compounds levels in extracts using self-designed dosing methods. - Selected among 15 samples coming from 7 different plants species the most interesting in term of potential activity, using identification and quantification results. - Tested different enrichment processes and suggested suitable method to increase the potential of extracts activity. - Isolated unknown compounds identified as probable not described compounds using purification technics as Preparative and Semi-Preparative HPLC and demonstrated their structural characteristics by RMN (HMBC, HSQC, COSY, 1H and 13C).
