Lead Neurologist, Peninsula Neuro-oncology network, member of medical board NFA-UK (charity), of the Brain tumour study group of the NCRI (til 2014), the clinical study group MND of the DenDroN Network, member scientific advisory board of BNOS, the Children's tumour foundation and Brain Research Trust Reviewer for more than 23 journals (incl. Brain, Annals of Neurology, Brain Pathology,Human Mol Genetics, Cancer Res, Oncogene, Acta Neuropath., J Med Gen) and approx 11 grant agencies (incl. Cancer Resarch UK, AICR, Wellcome, MRC, DFG) h-index 28 My work is truly from bed-side to bench and back to the bed-side. In addition my aim is to drive forward the development of clinical neurobiology research at the Medical School on a broader base. Peninsula Medical School has identified Neuroscience as one of three areas to invest QR funding in. This resulted in the recent advertisement of additional neuroscience posts to further strengthen existing research fields and staff. Clinical and preclinical neurology research in PCMD is concentrated in Plymouth with state of the art laboratory research facilities in the John Bull Building and ample interactions with the NIHR registers clinical trial unit and researcher with neuropathology and the neuroscience directorate of PHNT.
