Greater Tampa Bay Area
United States Navy veteran with more than ten years of active-duty experience as a helicopter and airplane pilot and over 4,000 total mishap-free flight hours. The role I relish most is being a leader and mentor to the great Sailors and Naval Officers with whom I've had the pleasure of serving. I have had several great leadership mentors during my career, and I strive to reflect their best qualities. As an operator, I am certified and highly experienced on both helicopters and multi-engine transport aircraft. I have extensive flight time in a variety of aircraft from both categories. I am qualified as a pilot and aircraft commander to perform diverse mission responsibilities, including ground attack, force protection, personnel search and rescue, and transport/insert/extract. I'm also a graduate Aviation Safety Officer, and safety is of paramount importance to every task I undertake. As a Naval officer, my responsibilities have grown with my experience level. During my first tour, I held positions in administration, maintenance leadership, and aircrew training. During my second tour, I served as director of aviation safety for a major naval air station, in addition to secondary responsibilities as port operations director and flight support program manager. When the moment arose, I volunteered to direct the planning and execution of a major military airshow with a budget of more than $450,000, giving more than 30,000 spectators a great weekend of airborne entertainment. This and my subsequent role as Air Transfer Officer on an aircraft carrier gave me a true appreciation for teamwork and efficiency of effort. As the ATO, I was responsible for all airborne logistical transportation to and from the carrier when underway. I led a team of highly motivated sailors in the safe and efficient transfer of hundreds of personnel and thousands of pounds of cargo over the course of a combat deployment, and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment! I carried that experience forward to a civilian career in airborne logistics as a cargo pilot and payload specialist, while maintaining a part-time role in the US Navy Reserve. I relied on this accrued experience when I mobilized for a year to support a Joint Special Operations Task Force as director of air operations and mobility. It was another great chance to work with top-notch warriors, and my pleasure to serve! I have eagerly jumped into every opportunity throughout my career, and I strive to learn from every experience in order to refine and enhance my professional and leadership abilities.
