Steering the maintenance support team of 30+ staff members, across: 2 processing plants Deboning facilities 12 production lines 2 abattoirs (sheep and cattle) Refrigeration plant (ammonia) Feedlot Managing all site maintenance and project activities, initially at the separate processing and abattoir facilities and later on at the new combined site, such as: Electrical (cabling, replacing lights, installations) Mechanical (servicing, breakdowns, etc.) Civil (new builds) Refrigeration (servicing, breakdowns, etc.) Plumbing (toilets, water supply, etc.) Establishing and maintaining a high performing maintenance team, overseeing their capabilities, performance and workload: Recruiting technicians of the correct caliber and with the required skill set or experience to ensure seamless team integration and business operations Training and development, ensuring that technicians have the necessary training on both new and existing equipment and systems Providing sufficient support for all maintenance activities through effective scheduling and workload management Continually monitoring the demand and growing the team as the site expands Overseeing the maintenance stores control and asset management: Compiling an asset list and drawing up maintenance schedules for each item Collaborating with external software designers to develop and implement a CMMS system (computerized maintenance management system) which efficiently controls/measures all aspects of the maintenance team, including: Utilization and downtime Preventative maintenance schedules Corrective maintenance Stores control Generating and managing the maintenance budget: Compiling an annual budget proposal for the following financial year Manage the maintenance stores and budget for the maintenance activities Providing costing input for larger site projects, ensuring all maintenance activities can be carried out within this budget
Implementing and administering effective asset management systems and procedures Managing scheduling, work planning and maintenance crew performance through the effective delegation and management of a team of 5 artisans, 3 assistants and 2 boiler operators Effectively monitoring and managing the CAPEX and OPEX budgets Ensuring water, electricity and coal are used efficiently across the site Addressing the maintenance requirements of the entire site: Civil Electrical Mechanical Refrigeration plant equipment
Implementing and administering effective asset management systems and procedures. The key areas include management of all work planning, scheduling and maintenance crew performance through the effective delegation and management of available resources within CAPEX and OPEX budgets. I have a crew of 5 artisans, 3 assistants and 2 boiler operators reporting to me. I am responsible for the entire site Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Refrigeration plant equipment. Part of my KPI’s is to ensure Water, Electricity and Coal are used efficiently.
Corrective, preventative, breakdown shutdown maintenance work on acid plant equipment such as Gearboxes, Pumps, Heat exchangers, Cooling systems, Pipelines, Pneumatic and hydraulic systems, Prayon and Belt filters (Liquid separation). In January 2010 I was identified to fill the Maintenance Planner position. I was responsible for planning and coordinating corrective, preventative, breakdown and shutdown maintenance activities within assigned OPEX and CAPEX budgets. Using JD Edwards as the CMMS system for the maintenance planning activities which includes Ordering of in-house spares (stock items), direct outside orders from vendors, time card booking of crew (Utilization), cost controlling, scheduling of preventative maintenance and reports relating to maintenance activities or equipment. I was also responsible for implementing continuous improvements as well as ensuring safety, health, environment and quality standards are maintained.
