We stand firm behind our ultimate goal, fostering our own unique strategy to ensure the security and sustainability of the entire energy system and accelerating our drive towards net-zero, all while pursuing a just energy transition that creates value for our stakeholders. We believe that energy transition is first and foremost driven by technological transformation, as technology propels us towards our goals and our responsibilities to secure decarbonized energy for society as a whole. Transforming the energy system requires us to work alongside a wide range of stakeholders to develop mutually beneficial solutions, synergies and new regulatory frameworks. LinkedIn will be an important way for us to share our perspectives and hear from you as we pursue our targets over the coming years. Together with our social team I look forward to sharing this journey with you.
An international outlook, creating long-term value, an integrated approach and the promotion of dialogue with local communities, respect for the environment and workers and the development of sustainable resources: this is how Eni works all over the world. We are an energy company, listed on the Milan and New York stock exchanges and employing 34,000 people in 69 countries.
My focus was on outlining strategy and development in the upstream business, both in Italy and internationally, to reach Eni’s operating and business objectives. I managed negotiations with our biggest partners and stakeholders, launching initiatives to develop our LNG business and increase our equity. Main achievements: - The Upstream area has become Eni’s main EBIT contributor (€16 billion); - 2013 production totalled more than 1.6 million boe/day, with a record 9 billion barrels of resources discovered, putting us in an admirable position compared with our peers; - 2013: successful exploration campaign in Mozambique and the start-up of the project in Cyprus; - 2012: exploration successes in Egypt, Congo, Angola, Nigeria, Pakistan, Italy and Indonesia and in new emerging basins in Mozambique, Kenya, Ghana, Vietnam and the Norwegian Barents Sea; - 2011: the discovery of the giant Mamba natural gas field in Mozambique, start-up of the West Hub 15/06 project and exploration success at the East Block 15/06 in Angola, the re-launch of production in Libya; - 2010: agreements with new countries such as Togo, Democratic Republic of Congo and China, and the discovery of almost 1 million barrels of new resources; - 2009: the acquisition and discovery of 3 giant fields in Venezuela and Iraq with the start-up of new projects, the launch of Goliat in Norway and of an exploration plan, worth 1 billion barrels of reserves in Venezuela (Perla), Ghana, Angola, the Gulf of Mexico, Indonesia, Pakistan and Norway alongside a 30% reduction in costs, compared with the previous year.
