The key focus of this job required dealing with tourists from all over the world as well as local members of public and liaising with many tourism service providers. I believe my continuous employment illustrated commitment, responsibility and credibility. My main duties and responsibilities included:- Dealing with members of the public -this ranged from simple accommodation bookings through to complex problem solving for tourists unfamiliar with Scotland's language and culture. Interacting with accommodation providers/event coordinators - building good relationships to ensure quality service for visitors and to guarantee continuous membership with VisitScotland from accommodation and event providers. Compiling the Monthly What's On guide - collecting event information, contacting local event groups, liaising with Dundee City Council and keeping the website up-to-date Repeat business - I was responsible for promoting other services we provide as our only income as an Information Centre is commission from accommodation bookings and ticket sales. Team work - our office has a small team of 4 employees without an on-site manager. It is important we work well together to ensure good customer service. Examples of other key skills relevant to working within a law firm: Negotiating and Influencing Skills - I managed to return to my employment with VisitScotland after my semester in Italy. I was able to negotiate the same terms and conditions of my previous employment despite the fact VisitScotland were no longer legally required to provide these given my break in service. Planning and Organisation Skills - Recently I was asked by my off-site team leader to think of ways of increasing footfall. I successfully contacted the local universities to allow us to promote the office and the services we provide during their orientation week for students new to the city. We successfully increased footfall to our office by 13.23%
