Clas Broder Hansen is an author, editor and designer of books, mainly maritime, art & culture, and illustrated books. He is the publisher of Urbes Verlag (founded by his father Hans Jürgen Hansen). He is a researcher on ships and maritime history. For a while he was editorial director with Koehlers Verlagsgesellschaft in Hamburg. Clas Broder Hansen is a member of ICMM International Congress of Maritime Museums, DGSM Deutsche Gesellschaft für Schiffahrts- und Marinegeschichte, STAG Sail Training Association Germany, and Förderverein Deutsches Schiffahrtsmuseum. He lives in Hamburg, Germany, and on the North Frisian island of Amrum. Clas Broder Hansen is president of Deutsche Hochschule für Seriositätswissenschaften, i.e. German Academy for the Sciences of Seriousness, a serious organisation which is engaged in serious public performances and publications. (Some people doubt if this academy really exists.) Clas Broder Hansen was editor-in-chief of the legendary underground magazine »Der Tod« (»The Death«). He is one of the two translators in the world of PUMI-Deutsch, an extraterrestrial language. He is editor of the very wise »Weise Aussprüche des Fred Has«, the Wise Sayings of Fred Has.
