Chaoyang District, Beijing, China
My name is Wen Xin, which has the same pronunciation as the Chinese word for "journalism". My interest in digital media and storytelling starts early. Owing to the limited information I could get in my hometown, a small city in northern China, I would like to expose myself to reading newspapers daily to know more about current news and affairs before entering college. At that time, I burgeoned the idea to develop myself into a journalist to report future events. With my education, skills, and interests, I wanted to learn how to create journalism projects that could capture something similar, exploring real situations in a journalistic manner, but making them into something more impactful and expressive. These projects must go beyond the short written articles to which I was accustomed; instead, I wanted to capture the sights and sounds of these experiences through video, which is a better way to record the living. I hold a master's degree in Magazine, Newspaper, and Online Journalism from the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, and I am interested in political, health and environment issues and dedicated to telling stories related with China. Please feel free to reach out to me and I am willing to answer all kinds of questions.
