As a chemical engineer and artist, I seek to apply what I'm learning in the lab and in the classroom to tackle problems in the real world with creativity. I want to understand more about our world through research, innovation, and collaboration. I'm currently studying polymers and bio-inspired materials, but seek to apply my knowledge to new things. Contact: [email protected] I'm also an oboist who loves connecting with others through music. Catch our concerts sometime at Bing Concert Hall!
Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internship recipient for Summer 2026
Investigating stretchable, conductive, adhesive polymer blends. Currently researching how different preparation methods impact a material's properties. Participated in the Summer 2025 Stanford Chemical Engineering Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU). Gained experience with wet lab skills, data analysis, materials characterization, and poster presentations.
Worked in Dr. Isaiah Sumner's lab to use computer software to model biodegradable plastics. Currently working on a manuscript with other JMU faculty members as a supporting author. Presented poster at the American Chemical Society Spring 2024 national meeting (Sci-Mix division and Computational Chemistry division), as well as both oral and poster presentations at JMU spring and summer student research symposiums. This project, titled "Understanding the Role of Glycerol in a Biodegradable Plastic," advanced to the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair in 2024.
