About

I am a passionate educator and leader, with a profound belief in the transformative value of deep subject engagement, among pupils. It is for this reason that I have taken on the role of delivering sixth form extended research projects at NLCS, where I also teach physics to A level. I believe deeply in the value of passionate, empathetic teachers with exemplary subject knowledge, and deep engagement in educational research. Prior to moving to NLCS, I spent 10 years at Haberdashers' Boys' School in Elstree, where I left as deputy head of Middle School (years 9-11), and I have carried much of what I learned there into my pastoral work since. I was additionally Head of CCF Army section at Habs, as well as running the Climbing Wall. As a qualified RCI, also having ML training, I believe profoundly in the qualities that outdoor education can instil. I am a primary school governor, an AQA examiner, and a private tutor for Oxbridge entry and Physics Olympiads. Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked in academic research, at UCL. I have extensive postgraduate and postdoctoral experience in theoretical Physics, and a history of teaching to undergraduate level. I have extensive experience in scientific and numerical computing and coding on a variety of systems, including massively parallel distributed memory computers. Specialties: Condensed matter physics, quantum mechanics, statistical physics, strongly correlated systems, rare-earth magnetism, computational physics, scientific programming, parallel programming, science education, pastoral education.
