Mr Lee founded the Singapore Green Building Council in 2009 and after 2011 has served as a Honorary Advisor on its board. He was also a Board Member of the World Green Building Council (2010 to 2013) As a professional engineer, Mr Lee helped to lead the growth of Beca Asia, a leading regional consultancy based in Singapore across Asia into China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Vietnam and the Middle East. He retired from active practice in 2013 but continued the linkage as Emeritus Chairman, Beca Asia until Aug 2022 He is currently Chairman, National Environment Agency (2019 to present) having served on its board for several years (2013 to present). He is also trustee of a philanthropic trust and an advisor to a number of organisations In the Science & Technology area, he is the Scientific Advisor to the Ministry of National Development; a Member of the Committee of Government Scientific Advisors; Chairman, Technical Advisory Workgroup and Member, Exco, Urban Solutions and Sustainability, National Research Foundation Singapore (2018 to present) He was on the Board of the Building and Construction Authority (2003 to 2013) and was the Deputy Chairman (2011 to 2013). He is the Chairman, BCA Industry Steering Committee for Building Information Modelling (BIM)/Integrated Digital Delivery (IDD) (2010 to present); Deputy Chairman, BCA Academy Advisory Panel (2013 to 2019); Chairman, BCA Green Mark Advisory Committee (2005 to 2019). He was a Board Member of the Professional Engineers Board (2001 to 2011) and on the Institution of Engineers Singapore Council for over a decade in the 1990s and 2000s serving several terms as Vice President. He has served in various committees of the Singapore Standards Council since the early 1990’s and was Deputy Chairman (2011 to 2020). He was an Honorary Advisor to the Real Estate Developers Association of Singapore for many years. He was awarded the ACES Outstanding Consulting Engineer Award 2007; the Public Service Medal in 2010 for his engineering profession work and the Public Service Star in 2018 for his sustainability environment work by the Singapore Government; the NZ-ASEAN Award in 2015 by the New Zealand Government for his services to NZ trade and enterprise; the inaugural BCA-SGBC Green Visionary Award in 2015 for his contributions to green buildings and sustainability; Honorary Fellow – ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations 2019; IES/IEEE Joint Medal of Excellence 2019; the inaugural BCA iBuildSG Distinguished Fellow 2020 and the PEB Distinguished Professional Engineer Award 2020.
