I got my PhD from University of California at Berkeley in May 2006 and returned to Taiwan since. My prior research focused on the relocation of Taiwanese information technology industry into China. I adopted an evolutionary perspective to trace the relocation process from the movement of individual firms, to the reconstruction of industrial system, and to the integration and differentiation of regional networks. I also tried to trace the change on the nature of the industrial system by comparing industrial systems across the border. Since 2010, I turned my focus to emerging industries and markets in China to explore how collective actions facilitated their emergence, development and associated institutional change. I used the perspective of institutional entrepreneurship to explore the rise of mobile phones in China, particularly the shan zhai (knock-offs) phenomenon. My recent targets are Chinese mobile internet industries, including smart phones, ecommerce and social media. Specialties: Industrial Cluster, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in China
