I am a higher education professional who focuses on effective messaging, communication strategies, and strategic planning/ execution. Importantly, I am a leader, collaborator, learner, and problem-solver. I work with school leaders to ensure strategic imperatives are met and effectively communicated with internal and external audiences. Within my current role, I oversee and create communication messages on behalf of the Villanova School of Business (VSB) and the Office of the Dean. Specifically, I prepare the speaking materials for the Helen and William O'Toole Dean in the form of scripts, talking points, and meeting briefings. Moreover, I ensure the strategic priorities of the school are met. I collaborate on event and meeting content; provide reasoned counsel on school initiatives and VSB's strategic plan; serve as the primary liaison to the VSB Dean's Advisory Council; and collaborate with other VSB leaders and departments to plan, execute and track the strategic imperatives of the school, thus ensuring its operational efficiency. I also serve on various internal committees and councils. I earned a Master of Arts (M.A.) and Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Communication from the University of Delaware with a concentration in mass communication and broadcast journalism.
Lead the strategic development and management of communications for the Helen and William O'Toole Dean, senior leaders, and Dean's Office. This includes: speeches, presentations, reports, emails, and web content. Ensure consistent messaging aligned with VSB and University's mission, values, reputation, and strategy. Ensure these messages are in alignment with university brand guidelines. Collaborate with colleagues to identify and remedy informational needs, including gathering, preparing, revising, and delivering communications for internal and external audiences. Serve as the primary liaison for the Dean's Advisory Council (DAC) through managing the communication and engagement for the group. Develops tailored content, including meeting agenda, on behalf of the dean.
In partnership and collaboration with colleagues, lead and support the development, refinement and implementation for communications on behalf of the Dean, VSB Leadership and other internal constituencies. Within the role, we seek to improve clarity, transparency, and processes. Brief the Helen and William O'Toole Dean of the Villanova School of Business with materials for participation at upcoming meetings, events, and other commitments. Partner with our events team for the planning and execution of VSB signature events. Prepare slides and other presentation materials on behalf of the Dean and the Dean's Office. Prepare, draft, and support writing projects, including VSB's Annual Report, AACSB Accreditation Report, VSB Strategic Plan, and other documents as needed. Serve as the primary liaison to the Dean's Advisory Council in which I manage and support meeting content, member correspondence, and member experience initiatives. Oversee the active member directory and collaborate with the Sr. Director of Major Giving to ensure priorities are met and executed. Provide leadership, reasoned counsel, and effective management to ensure that systems, protocols, and procedures are met. Maintain high-levels of confidentiality with regards to the work within the Dean's office.
Positioned within the Office of the Dean for the Villanova School of Business. Write, edit, and disseminate communication content and messaging for internal VSB audiences. Communication materials include: event scripts, talking points, presentation slide decks, and mass communication emails. Research and prepare presentation materials for the Dean of the Villanova School of Business. Contribute to the writing of annual or ad hoc reports, accreditation materials, and other documents from the strategic initiatives team. Prepare and refine speaking remarks for senior VSB Leaders. Collaborate with members of the events team to plan and execute upcoming VSB events. Contribute to other school-wide projects including VSB's 100 Stories of Impact features. Provide reasoned counsel to the Dean regarding the happenings of the University and school. Maintain a deep understanding of University policies, procedures and contacts. Consult on various communication initiatives within the school and on behalf of the Dean. This includes the School's Business Communication initiatives and the VSB student commencement speaker contest. Previously managed the schedule of the Helen and William O'Toole Dean. Briefed her on all upcoming meetings or engagements. Conducted outreach or follow up correspondence to alumni, university administration, faculty, staff, and/or students. Prepared materials for all meetings, events, and engagements. Provided high-level executive support to the Dean. Serve as the primary liaison for the VSB Dean's Advisory Council. Represent the Office of the Dean on VSB's Staff Advisory Council.
Positioned within the Writing Center, oversaw the operation and growth of a public speaking tutoring program, providing one-to-one training and development services to university students. Served as the primary or secondary supervisor to 40-50 student staff within the center. Duties included day-to-day supervision, training, hiring and student mentorship. Developed trainings, procedural manuals, and other materials related to the daily operation of the center. Corresponded with various university constituents via email, phone, or face-to-face meetings. Mentored students to facilitate one’s personal and professional development. Facilitated workshops or individual trainings on effective professional communication skills. Topics included: web-conferencing presence, oral presentation essentials, and multimedia production/ writing. Utilized contemporary communication practices to be applied within personal, professional, or academic settings. Instructed multiple courses within the Department of Communication. Created original on-ground and online courses with topics in oral communication, professional presentations, mass communication, and communication coaching. Developed print, video, and other learning materials for synchronous or asynchronous classrooms
Instructed multiple undergraduate courses for the Department of Communication with topics in oral communication and mass media communication. Developed original lectures and assignments with an active learning focus through discussions, activities, and collaboration. Lessons were developed with clear learning objectives and measurable outcomes through written and presentation assignments. Assistant Director of the department’s Oral Communication Center. Duties included: oversight of workshop series, management of email and social media channels, interfacing with clients, and representation on committees, panels, or advisory boards.
Provided quote requests, tracking information, and general sales support for the Baltimore-based sales team. Duties included: weekly task reports, assistance in quarterly forecasting, updates on current projects, and maintaining reports of deal registrations and progress. Logged opportunities and orders to provide accurate forecasting and order-posting functions. This included: deal pricing, costs, and service/ purchase orders. Contacted sales-representatives, customers, and technical-support representatives to engage in proactive pricing, deal registration, and customer services.
Within the Communication Department, assisted the course coordinator through scheduling meetings with instructors, conducting in-class evaluations, and scheduling proctoring assignments of upcoming exams within the Department Organized and maintained instructor resources website through updating old files, aggregating useful materials, and deleting obsolete documents Co-coordinate the Oral Communication Fellows, a group of 14 students who served as public speaking tutors for the University
