Management Team Member for the Thyssenkrupp electrolysis business unit (UCE) and initial leader of the Global Task Force for worldwide renewable solutions, which consisted of: ◎ Renewable Hydrogen (H2) [5-MW alkaline electrolyzer (AWE) and EPC]---did an IPO ◎ Utility-Scale Energy Storage: ➸ (1) Vanadium Redox Flow Batteries---did the commercialization and ➸ (2) Electrolytic Hydrogen Energy Storage ◎ Green Ammonia (NH3) [solar-and-wind-driven, CO2-free ammonia]---won large projects. ◎ Renewable PVC (green EDC)---patented. ◎ H2-DRI Steel, Top gas recycled CO2 to CCS, ULCOS, CCU, and Carbon Direct Avoidance ◎ Renewable e-/bio-Methanol ◎ Generally Power-to-X; Power-to-Gas; Sector Coupling; eFuels ◎ Renewables to Chemicals, Reforming CCUS, Bio gasification ◎ Industrial digitalization ◎ The Global Task Force had the highest growth, was most popular business in TK; Dr. Papile was an early advocate that the Task Force go public (SDAX); then did an IPO (TK Nucera); Nucera are among the top 160 companies in Germany. ◎ Dr. Papile initiated the Saudi NEOM sale, TK won the world's largest H2 contract. P&L Responsibility. Directed professionals in Japan, China, Australia, India, SG, Saudi, UAE, EU, S. Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa and North America. Leadership included direct influence on R&D (accomplishments with team including Renewable PVC [DE102016210841, WO2017216272...], included EPC, products' development, Business Development and OEM/licensing industrial and mega-projects; initiated the Thyssenkrupp win of Saudi NEOM worth > $ 1 Billion USD; led committee on automated manufacturing plans, strategy, strategic partnerships, product definition, pricing, legal contracts, marketing and talent acquisition. As the initial Head of the Thyssenkrupp energy storage and hydrogen global business; we generated approximately 4 Billion € qualified project pipeline; which was the founding of today's Nucera with a several-Billion € revenue backlog
Working at the ExxonMobil/Technip 50/50 JV, Dr. Papile reported to the CTO. Dr. Papile's team developed the world-leading catalyst for polycarbonate monomer production (new BPA [see WO2018200278, TW 201902573, US201762489262, CN110545916, EP3615209 (EU), KR20190136094 (Korea), SG11201909208T (Singapore)...]) offered by Badger Licensing [then the 50/50 JV ExxonMobil/Technip], which is the international technology leader, having deployed a massive 3.78 Million metric tons globally (http://www.badgerlicensing.com/img/Press%20Release%20-%20ZPC%20BPA%20FINAL.pdf). This new process generates much higher yield and a clear, clean product at a lower cost per Ton. As Director of Portfolio Growth, led emerging technologies for some of the largest commodity chemicals, monomers and polymers in the world that are licensed by ExxonMobil/Technip. Expanded our product portfolio through M&A preparation and in-house R&D, reporting directly to the CTO. R&D Dr. Papile led included new catalytic methods, the use of ionic liquids, super acids and innovative zeolite nano/meso-scale configurations. Wrote internal business plans and obtained large internal funding to develop nano-scale catalysts and chemical processes, directed R&D efforts and led those newly initiated products through Stage Gates towards commercial launch. Before Director of Portfolio Growth, was Chief Engineer for the catalyst recovery unit in a world-scale Chinese coal gasification to synthetic natural gas (SNG) process development and FEED.
