Christopher Rey was born and raised in Mauritius before moving to Canada for university, where he graduated from the Sauder School of Business at UBC and completed studies at HEC Paris with a specialization in Marketing and Finance. Prior to moving to Canada, he represented Mauritius internationally in rugby at the youth level. After beginning his career at L’Oréal Canada, where he helped launch and grow Vichy’s Minéral 89 into the #1 face care moisturizer in Canada, Christopher co-founded Apollo Scooters — an electric mobility company focused on accelerating the transition toward sustainable urban transportation. Since launch, Apollo has grown into a bootstrapped business operating across more than 16 countries and over 1,000 retail locations, including major partners such as Best Buy USA. Along the way, the company has been featured in publications including The Wall Street Journal, CNET, Electrek, and Tom’s Guide. Outside of work, Christopher remains passionate about leadership, endurance sports, and community. A lifelong athlete, he continues to pursue challenges ranging from marathons to ultra-trail racing. Managed the brand portfolios of: - Mineral 89: The #1 Selling Moisturizer Product in Canada (all drugstores) since launch in June 2017 - Aqualia Thermal: #1 Basic Moisturizer in Canada (all channels) - Other: Vichy Men Portfolio, Deodorants and Ideal Body Achievements during my time at L'Oréal: - Sustained the launch of Vichy's Mineral89 moisturizer by launching a full, 360 online/offline media campaign in Canada ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8JTL5OuMJ4 ). This campaign generated over 4 million views, gained record View-Through-Rates and was praised as an industry best practice within L'Oréal and by Google Canada. - Launched the first weather compliant marketing media campaign with The Weather Network, releasing ads that were dynamically optimized to target consumers based on the current weather, achieving above benchmark click-through rates and conversion rates. - Launched Minéral 89 Eyes, an extension under the Mineral 89 Franchise, that helped bring the franchise back to double digit growth of the entire franchise vs the previous year. This was strongly due to the 360 campaign of "Mineral89: Destination Healthy Skin", that gained the highest social media awareness within L'Oréal Canada YTD 2019. Social Activities: - Led the L'Oreal Movember Team this year and surpassed the $2,500 donation goal by 217% (raising a total of $5,427)!
