I am a multidisciplinary artist and mentor with expertise in sculpture, craft, and design, alongside a background in prop design, award-winning fashion, and moving image. For over 20 years, my practice has spanned various creative fields and materials, consistently focusing on craft, the hand-made object, and the body. As a prop maker, I’ve contributed to a wide range of projects, including creating a giant polar bear marionette for Greenpeace, working with esteemed institutions like the V&A Museum and Barbican, and collaborating with artist Simon Costin. My personal work includes textile sculptures that explore my experience as a neurodiverse practitioner. As an educator, I’m passionate about helping students unlock their full potential, guiding them to discover their unique artistic voice and confidently navigate their creative journeys. Whether you're building a portfolio, refining drawing skills, or exploring new creative approaches, I offer a personalized, hands-on approach that meets each student where they are, helping them evolve as artists. Christopher Kelly is a London based designer and maker working across a plethora of genres and industries. I have a diverse background in design; with experience in fashion, set design, prop making and interior design.
I am a designer and maker that works across many creative disciplines but what makes me the happiest is creating functional yet beautiful products. This range has come from a collection of independent ideas. Whilst riding my bike one day the Leather bottle pocket came to mind, from the nuisance of losing my water bottle one too many times. The Geometric purse was born because I don’t like to carry loose coins in my pocket. I have worked in the fashion industry for many years so creating a collection comes all too natural to me, so I hope you agree that this range of accessories compliment each other well. All the pieces are hand crafted by me in my sunny London studio.
I am currently teaching on the University of Arts London, My position is Fashion and Textiles, Contextual studies lecturer. My practice as a fashion and prop designer brings to the role an insight in to the industry that the students will eventually work within. My skill set ranges fashion design and creative director of my own menswear brand alongside a running a diverse career as a prop designer.
