- Highly motivated Design Engineer with a passion for Motorsport and Automotive Engineering. - Current Transmission Design Engineer for McLaren Racing with over 10 years experience in Formula 1 design engineering. - Experienced in F1 gearbox design. Including metallic internals, composite structures and lubrication installations. - Graduated with a First Class Mechanical Engineering Masters Degree with placement from the University of Bath. - Experienced in Solid modelling and Surface design - Trained in both CATIA and Unigraphics NX CAD software.
Since 2015 I have been a core member of the Transmission design team. In this time I have worked on composite maincase concepts & design, metallic internals, lubrication/ hydraulic systems and electrical installations.
I began my career at McLaren with 9 months designing aerodynamic surfaces for CFD and wind tunnel models under the instruction and guidance of the Aerodynamicists. In this time I was able to develop my surfacing skills in Catia to a high standard whilst contributing to improving the performance of our race car.
I returned to the Williams transmission department in the 2013 university summer break in order to help the team with the 2014 car. With the large change in F1 powertrain regulations that occurred at the time, there was a vast amount of interesting design work that needed doing, allowing me to accelerate my own development and contribution to the team.
I spent a year in the Transmission department at Williams F1 team as part of an industrial placement for my Mechanical Engineering degree. Mainly responsible for assembly tooling and component design.
1 weeks work experience and my first introduction into a mechanical engineering environment. I spent time in all aspects of the company where I picked up the bug for the next steps of my career.
