Primary responsibilities: - Perform scheduled preventative maintenance instructions at regular intervals to keep proton system running optimally - Troubleshoot and repair unexpected system downs, which require advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and software systems. - Monitor site operations during clinical patient treatment to ensure that radiation therapists are able to treat patients in a timely and efficient manner. - Document all performed tasks thoroughly for recall during external medical audits Secondary Responsibilities: - Radiation Safety Site Coordinator, which involves ensuring all Varian personnel are safe when entering radiation controlled areas, handing activated radioactive materials properly and documenting them for storage, and responsible for workers radiation badges and documentation for received dose. - Site Inventory Management, which involves receiving, ordering, and tracking all parts that cumulatively totals millions of dollars and are necessary for integration into all systems for proper function of the system.
- Ensured Emory Proton Therapy Center passed internal audits, safety audits, and FDA audits - Maintained accurate shipping documentation, site purchasing receipts, and device history record files that are carefully examined during audits - Cataloged and organized multi-million dollar site inventory for both instillation parts and service parts - Trained on multiple systems and became proficient with installing and troubleshooting components of the gantry, beamline, and electrical system. - Completed acceptance documentation under supervision of Field Service Engineers - Assisted Field Service Engineers with any additional troubleshooting and installation work as needed.
