With a team of 100 Managers, Engineers and Technicians, we are the Manufacturing Development Center Switzerland, the place where Philip Morris International converts ideas into solutions, processes and products that play a key role in the Smoke Free Future of PMI. In this role we lead highly complex projects and programs in close collaboration with multiple stakeholders from various R&D and Product Developments functions of PMI and we provide end to end solution for: -Fast Prototyping of Combustible cigarettes and Smoke Free Products with the possibility to propose new products to our adult consumers before industrial capabilities are available. -Industrialization and technology verification for New Smoke Free Products to build commercial manufacturing capabilities in our factories, -Prototyping of Packaging and Digital Printing solutions to address sustainability challenges of tomorrow, to increase agility and to reduce time to market.
The Manufacturing Development Center is where PMI product innovation lives. I lead a team of more than 60 Managers, Supervisors, Engineers and Technicians. We are located in Neuchâtel, Switzerland where we are working ideas into solutions by - developing innovative manufacturing processes for both Consumables and Substrates - prototyping new complex concepts for both Conventional and Reduced Risk Products - developing and verifying new digital printing processes
Develop technical solutions to manufacture new design of RRP prototypes. Adapt current equipment to cope with evolving product designs Manufacture RRP prototypes to confirm product performances expected from R&D product designers Lead and develop a team of Engineers and experienced Technicians
Construction of 4500m² of laboratory space for the new PMI R&D CUBE in Neuchâtel Switzerland. - Security concept of the building - Space planning - Design of utility distribution in the laboratories - Design of laboratory furniture with the users and project management for implementation (10 mio CHF) - Design of building operational modell (logistic of chemicals and lab consumables) - Planning, Supervision and execution of the move of 400 employees from three different geographical locations including scientific equipment and chemicals.
Implementaton of a research laboratory for new smoking articles (3 mio USD). - Design of 450m² of laboratories - Design and implementation of all furniture and equipment - Move of employees and scientific activities including laboratory analytical equipment.
- Qualification of packaging base materials for PMI worldwide factories. - Physical characterization of packaging materials and cellulose acetates for PMI wordlwide factories. - Training of base materials suppliers on method for the determination of physical parameters.
Supervise the implementation of the PMI worldwide EHS program for the Neuchâtel factory.
• Implementation and validation of a double stage reverse osmosis water unit • Implementation of 4 filling lines (vials, ampoules, syringes) under sterile isolators. • Implementation of two steam sterilizer’s including validation of steam penetration in DPTE containers for use in isolators. • Development of a decontamination method using hydrogen peroxide vapor phase. • Planning and execution of validations for four filling lines and successful FDA inspection. • Implementation of a visual inspection group using semi-automatic inspection machines. • Hiring and training of operators and supervision of a production team of 30 employees.
