For more than three decades, I have guided executives, seekers of meaning, and seafarers in questions of orientation – whether in strategy, education, or on the open sea. In 1995, I founded the AFK – Atelier für Kommunikation, a space dedicated to language awareness and creative consulting. Just one year later, the HOZ Hochseezentrum followed, which today stands as the market leader in nautical education. As President of the Swiss Maritime School and initiator of the NAKAD Nautical Academy, I am committed to bridging classical educational traditions with the opportunities of the digital future. My didactic approach, Nautical Blended Coaching™, integrates traditional teaching methods, digital technologies, and nautical practice. It combines physical learning environments with AI-powered systems such as NAKAD | First Nautical GPT™, creating a multidimensional form of education: cognitive, practical, and spiritual. This model transforms orientation into an experience – not merely the transfer of knowledge, but a process of both inner and outer navigation. Beyond this, my research and development projects – Kommunautik™, Astrognostik™, and Metapheretik™ – open new pathways of positioning at the intersection of navigation, language, and theology. They highlight that orientation is far more than technical control: it is a spiritual art that enables us to make decisions with clarity and responsibility. My work is shaped by the conviction that human beings are called not only to stay on course, but also to find meaning.
