About

TLDR (As the kids say, “Too Long, Didn’t Read”): My research looks at how we can improve Black students’ experiences in schools and the support teachers need in order to do so. Extended Intro: I am a proud Detroiter, researcher, consultant, teacher educator and three-time University of Michigan alumna. In my work, I center Black elementary students’ strengths – or “cultural capital,” as wealthy examples that educators can learn from in order to improve their teaching practice and the success of Black students.
