- Partook in metabolic and obesity research as an IRTA Post-Baccalaureate Fellow under the mentorship of Dr. Lee Weinstein and Dr. Min Chen - Utilized basic research skills such as RT-qPCR, genotyping, mouse dissection, genomic sequencing, RNA/DNA preparation
- I studied pancreatic development by determining the role of Wnt5a in the Hox5 gene through immunoblot staining and quantification methods on mice pancreatic tissue: Under the mentorship of Leilani Marty- Santos, Ph.D. and Deneen Wellik, Ph.D. - I assisted doctorate students in the lab with basic lab tasks and genotyping various Hox gene paralogs through PCR and gel electrophoresis
- I characterized disparities in the rates of live donor kidney transplants in urban and rural patient populations. I also helped with further development of the Live Donor Champion Program, which is a telemedicine program that makes communication with healthcare providers more accessible, under the mentorship of Elizabeth King, M.D. in the lab of Dorry Segev, M.D., Ph.D. - Upon analyzing population data sets with urban and rural patients, I worked with the statistical program, Stata and did multivariate analysis on this data
