I am an engineer with a strong technical foundation and a passion for building scalable, resilient, and innovative products. With a background spanning software engineering, product management, and platform leadership, I thrive at the intersection of strategy, execution, and technical excellence. At sennder, Europe’s leading digital freight forwarder, I lead a team of seven engineers responsible for the data platform powering analytics, AI, and operational data products for 600+ users. We provide infrastructure, tools, and governance to enable scalable and autonomous data operations across 30+ teams, with a strong focus on compliance and data quality.
Leading our Data & ML engineering department.
I lead a high-performing team of 7 engineers, building and scaling sennder’s data platform, which empowers 200+ tech, data, and product users with robust, scalable, and user-centric solutions. Our mission is to enable sennder's trust in data at scale by providing infrastructure, governance, and automation. Key Contributions & Impact of my team 🔹 Data Warehouse & Analytics – Architected a Snowflake-based data platform, supporting 6K+ models and 600+ daily users. 🔹 Data Pipelines at Scale – Managing 200+ ELT and Reverse-ETL pipelines, built with Dagster, Python, and dbt for seamless data integration. 🔹 Data Catalog & Governance – Developing a custom DataHub implementation for metadata management and discoverability. We manage the infra ourselves via k8s, tf, docker and helm. 🔹 Observability & Compliance – Built an in-house observability suite that enhances data quality, cost efficiency, and GDPR compliance. Home-made with dbt and snowsight. 🔹 Driving sennder’s Data Mesh Strategy – Enabling 30+ teams to build and own their data products with standardized infrastructure, tooling, and automation (Terraform, docker, kubernetes, helm, python and dbt). Leadership & Responsibilities ✅ People & Team Development – Setting clear expectations, aligning individual growth with company objectives, and fostering a culture of mentorship, collaboration, and impact. ✅ Technical Strategy & Execution – Defining team priorities, ensuring strategic alignment, and driving high-level system design and architecture decisions. ✅ Cross-Functional Leadership – Bridging the gap between engineering, data, and business teams, ensuring smooth collaboration and measurable impact. ✅ Hands-On Engineering & Mentorship – Providing technical leadership, reviewing designs & code, and solving complex architectural challenges in data infrastructure. I strive to balance technical excellence with people-first leadership, ensuring my team thrives while delivering high-impact, scalable solutions. 🚀
Led the development of sennder’s data platform, warehouse, analytics tools, and streaming solutions, enabling scalable and reliable data-driven decision-making. Spearheaded the testing strategy for engineering, defining smoke tests and a UAT environment when alignment between product and tech leadership was missing. Worked closely with engineering, the CTO, and data teams to drive adoption of data reliability, testing, and observability best practices, laying the foundation for scalable software delivery.
Key achievements: - Setup of a data-driven decision framework through the monitoring of precise and relevant KPIs - Pivot on product positioning, leading to first customer adoption and revenues - Increased retention by 400% - Divided internal cost of the product by 2 - Enhanced customer happiness by several points through key metrics (API stability, response time, result quality...) - Budget management ~1mil € / year Daily activities: - Leading and providing vision to the development team and stakeholders - Definition of MVPs - Collection of feedbacks from users, design of problem-solving features - Product Owner of a Scrum team composed of 8 engineers, using SAFE methodologies - Prioritization of product backlog, in order to maximize the value generated by the engineers - Roadmap definition and communication to Executives - Competition analysis and surveillance - Coordination with more than 20 teams (customers, developers, designers, implementation, sales, marketing...) - Showcases to prospects and customers - Pricing model and business case elaboration - Internal trainer for "Product Best Practices"
Senior Data Engineer, working on Amadeus search engines (Master Pricer, Instant Search and Virtual Interlining) in a team of 7 - 10 engineers. - Elaboration of AI / machine learning models to improve performances of the engines (faster response time, accuracy of recommendations and cost saving). - Data transformations using spark, kafka scala. Streaming daily petabytes of data. - CI/CD and Industrialization of backend components serving our ML models. - Design and development of a generic A/B testing platform. - Technical lead of the team: - Setting in place ways of working, processes and tools to improve the velocity of our team - Cross-team collaboration on architecture designs and development cycles - As a Scrum Master, Ensure a great team spirit and shield the development team from external requests.
Daily work with Scala, Java , big data tools (spark, hadoop, hive, drill, kafka, oozie, tableau, Qlick, ElasticSearch ...) and CI. - Explore data to find meaningfull information from "big data" datasets (TBs / day). Tools: qlick, tableau, python - Design and develop automated Data Processing pipelines to extract this information - lambda architecture. Tools: spark, scala, sbt, kafka and hadoop eco-system - Design and develop APIs to make the data available to other products / commercial teams. Tools: Java, Jboss, Maven Personnal work on different innovative / entrepreneur alike projects, including business plans and prototyping.
Big Data technics in online advertising for the travel industry: - Data mining in the ADserver's data lake to extract KPIs for data-driven business development decisions. - Data visualisation and manipulation through Tableau desktop and Tableau cloud. - Clustering with K-prototypes. Implemented a MapReduce version with python & hadoop. - Time series forecasting with ARIMA and Neural Network RNN LSTM - using Keras
Startup focusing on self-organising systems and IoT, for Building's automation. First, I improved the autopilot for industrial cleaners in the following ways: • Coupled RGB-SLAM with a laser scan to improve self-localisation of the robot •Enhanced the odometry of the robot by making IMU assess and compensate its own offset • Refined the path planner and occupancy grid generation with a vectorization algorithm Then, I joined the team working on the next big project: Crownstones (https://crownstone.rocks/). I worked on the indoor localisation using BLE and the android application to deploy new crownstones.
I was part of the Vision for Robots team. My work consisted of developing several python/C++ modules for the NAO robot and the ROMEO prototype of Aldebaran. These modules include: • Object recognition with a single RGB camera, using classifier or pattern/color recognition. • Object tracking • Grasping I had the opportunity to: • Greatly improve my coding skills, especially C / C++ / python. • Deepen my knowledge of computer vision, using openCV. • Learn cross-compilation and threads management to adapt a code for a specific embedded system, using Cmake and Pthread. • Learn how to use Aldebaran software, namely Choregraphe, Monitor, Naoqi. • Elaborate and solve kinematic systems to control robot's arms. http://www.acin.tuwien.ac.at/1/institute/
