Christian Schneidermeier (born 1969) is a qualified sports economist, and since 2011 has been the sole CEO of ORTOVOX, a German sporting goods manufacturer specializing in alpine sports and based in Taufkirchen, near Munich, Germany. Having grown up by Lake Tegernsee, Schneidermeier’s chosen career path in sales and marketing took him away from his hometown. Stations of his professional life have included Gore Bike Wear, the Olympic Training Center in Tauberbischofsheim, and the Beach-Volleyball Masters. A desire to live closer to the mountains again is what brought Schneidermeier to Taufkirchen. He began in Ortovox’s sales department in 2001, after which he took over and successfully developed the ORTOVOX avalanche seminars segment. His other responsibilities within the company have included the press and marketing department, management of the sales division, and brand management, alongside founder and company owner Gerald Kampel. After the company was sold to the Schwan-Stabilo Outdoor group in 2011, Schneidermeier was appointed sole CEO. In addition to his role as CEO, Schneidermeier has been deputy chair of the Outdoor segment and member of the board of directors of the German Sporting Goods Industry Association (BSI) since November 2020. He has also sat on the corporate social responsibility committee of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (CCI) for Munich and Upper Bavaria in a voluntary capacity since 2018, and been a member of the CCI General Assembly since 2021. Schneidermeier is a passionate mountaineer and ski tourer, but has no ambitions to break world records. He also plays volleyball and tennis, and enjoys mountain biking and skiing. Due in part to the fact that he has children himself, Schneidermeier is interested in everything to do with sustainability and social development. He describes himself as a committed European. A bon vivant, he enjoys the finer things in life: nature, good food and drink, music and theatre. Christian Schneidermeier has been married for over 20 years and has two grown-up daughters.
