I’m Christian, the Founder, CEO & CIO of ARR Investment Partners. At ARR, I lead a global L/S equity strategy designed to deliver superior risk-adjusted returns. As one of the largest shareholders in the fund, I have full skin in the game. My journey in financial markets began in 1997 with an investment in Qualcomm shares, achieving a 1,500% return. This experience sparked my passion for investing and laid the foundation of my career. In 2015, I launched the ARR global long/short equity strategy with two guiding principles: 1. To create an investment approach aligned with my personal philosophy, enabling me to invest all my own capital in the strategy. 2. To collaborate with investors and colleagues who inspire and motivate me. My career began at Man Investments, where I gained diverse experience across fund-of-funds, private equity, and high-yield strategies. In 2009, I moved to Russia without speaking the language or having a network. Over time, I became fluent in Russian and honed my skills as a portfolio manager at Kazimir Partners in Moscow. Despite a prolonged bear market where Russian equities fell over 70% between 2011 and 2014, I delivered absolute returns, sharpening my expertise in risk management and short-selling—skills that remain core to ARR’s strategy. At ARR, we target asymmetric risk/return opportunities. Our strategy has delivered double-digit returns during downturns like the March 2020 COVID crash and the 2022 sell-off. With a Sortino ratio exceeding 2, we are committed to disciplined, risk-adjusted performance. Our results have earned industry recognition, including being ranked among the top 10 global L/S equity strategies by BarclayHedge in 2022 and winning the 2024 HFM European Performance Award in the ‘Global Equity under $500m’ category.
