Student Diplomacy Corps (SDC) is a non-profit organization that provides opportunities and scholarships for high school students from across the nation and around the world on dynamic cross-cultural education summer programs that promote civic engagement, deepen understanding of local and global issues and unleash the potential and creativity of youth.
Led and managed summer abroad staff and programs, responsible for enrollment increase from 400-1,100 students over a ten year period; strategized and handled outreach and recruitment of students and group leaders; managed, designed and wrote communications materials, including publications and web content; created curriculum with international partners that provided service learning and cross-cultural, experiential immersion programs; created and implemented programs in Mongolia, Morocco, Japan, China, Czech Republic and Costa Rica and managed program portfolio in 30 countries world-wide; built and maintained relationships with international non-profits and educational institutions; oversaw trainings to prepare group leaders; directed summer support for parents, group leaders and students in managing conflict resolution and ensuring safety and welfare; developed systems to evaluate programs; hired and trained new staff members.
Gave presentations in high schools and community organizations around the United States; developed and maintained relationships with local schools and national youth mentoring programs such as Prep for Prep, ABC (A Better Chance), TEAK and the Wight Foundation; developed materials for recruitment; handled training for new employees.
Taught conversational and vocational English in grades 9-12 at a secondary school which prepares students to enter the fields of tourism and hospitality.
Taught English to graduate and undergraduate students of engineering. Directed English language theater performances, facilitated weekly lecture on American Studies and Lifestyles, edited English language newspaper and organized a weekly English corner.
