About

I have done work experience in both criminal and civil settings. My first placement was in a criminal solicitors firm working in Manchester, where I was given the opportunity to engage with and observe criminal cases in the magistrates courts and the crown court. The latter took place in a civil law solicitors on the Isle of Man. Here I was able to engage with both present and past cases which centred around trusts law, land law, commercial law and public law. I found the experience at both firms to be deeply interesting and rewarding. In 2020, I completed my law degree at Lancaster University with a 2:1. Here I discovered a love of chancery law and public law. I achieved a 100% mark on my dissertation which centred entirely around the latter. The paper discussed whether the UK Supreme Court had become Judicially activist in the wake of several high profile rulings including, but not limited to, Miller 1 and Miller 2. My dissertation served to hone my legal research and analytical abilities to great effect, which went on to serve me well when I sat the Bar exams. I did my Bar Training Course with BPP University Manchester, providing me with a nuanced understanding of both civil and criminal litigation procedures. We were trained in advocacy, drafting of statements of case, opinion writing, legal research and critical case analysis. I excelled in advocacy in particular, where I was able to gain a mark of 92% in my examination in chief assessment. Outside of law I have a great love of the theatre and acting - having worked as a professional actor alongside my legal career pursuits. I am also a very keen skier, hiker, swimmer and I absolutely love to travel. I pride myself on being a friendly, approachable, dedicated and driven individual. I always like to bring a positive energy to any environment I am placed in, and I am first and foremost a team player. I am a people person at heart and I like to bring as personable an approach to my work as possible. Thanks for taking the time to view my profile!
