Chris Silbernagel is one of the most experienced architects of Business Intelligence solutions in the industry. He is managing principal, Business Intelligence, at Signature BI Inc., a business intelligence consulting firm specializing in designing and constructing decision support systems, data marts, and data warehouses to help companies increase profitability, revenue or market share, streamline business practices, and identify industry trends. He co-founded the company in 2007 and its predecessor, Exigent Partners, LLC in 2002. Silbernagel has over twenty-five years of experience in the design, implementation and enhancement of BI solutions, and over 35 years of complex design and development experience. He lectures frequently on the BI topics of dimensional modeling, database design, Data governance, and the selection of appropriate technology for all BI components. He has applied his expertise in the analysis, design, development and implementation of large-scale Business Intelligence solutions for clients including Price Chopper Supermarkets, Estée Lauder Inc., Chubb and Son, The Orvis Company and Medco Health Solutions. Silbernagel is skilled in a vast number of technologies, some of the ones most recently applied are Snowflake, MicroStrategy, SAP/Business Objects, IBM Cognos, IBM PureData/Netezza/Sailfish, SQLserver, .net, Java, and SSIS. Silbernagel received a B.S. degree in Building Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1982. When he is not building data warehouses for clients, Silbernagel can be found training in Goju Ryu Karate and Iaido, under a car, on a bike, or in the shop with his sons and daughter. He lives in Warwick, New York with his wife, Marla.
In charge of personnel, projects and operations of this Business Intelligence consulting organization. • Design and modeling of a Customer Data Warehouse for a Regional Grocery Chain. Implemented in Snowflake with data from inhouse Loyalty and Marketing systems and fed to partners for Segmentation, householding and CRM functions. • Selection and Design of the conversion to Snowflake of a Netezza Enterprise Data Warehouse for a Regional Grocery Chain. The Design included the methodology and best practices for the Data Model and the SSIS ETL packages to the Cloud based Snowflake. • Design and modeling of a Pharmacy Data Warehouse for a Regional Grocery Chain. The implementation will be IBM Puredata data warehouse with data exchanges between McKesson’s Pharmacy systems which is implemented in Oracle. Included Remediation of 340B, federal drug reimbursements. Focused on optimizing the margins and utilization of drug programs through insurers and monitoring the effective use of prescriptions by patients. • Design and modeling of a Fresh Produce Shrink Data Warehouse for a Regional Grocery Chain. Focused on reducing shrink and specifically on increasing the amount of shrink that is known. • Integration of retail POS and back office data into an existing IBM Puredata data warehouse for a worldwide market leader in skin care, cosmetics and fragrances. Focused on daily and real-time reporting and supporting the regional affiliates business management, sales and marketing. • Financial and Clinical Data mart for a Leading Cancer Testing company. Provided the basis for forensic auditing through bankruptcy, SEC investigation and subsequent purchase. • Customer Analytic Data warehouse for the oldest catalog retailer in the United States. Provided Omni-Channel (retail, catalog and web) customer analysis. Determined the marketing events that drove the sale and creating alternate attribution models that best approximated the customer response.
Data Warehousing Practice In charge of personnel, projects and operations of the data warehousing practice of this consulting organization. Directing data warehouse consultants and contributing to the following projects: * Upgrades and enhancements for a data warehouse for a worldwide market leader in skin care, cosmetics and fragrances in a Microstrategy/RedBrick/HP/EMC environment. * Data Warehouse Architect, design and development of a data warehouse using Microstrategy/UDB/IBM for one of the premier Insurance companies. This warehouse was used internally and externally for the company's clients. It involved integration with a web portal, adherence and integration with a sophisticated security implementation and extensive customization. * Enhancements and upgrades to a 1.5 Tb prescription claims data warehouse for both internal and external analysis. The implementation was Microstrategy/Plumtree/Teradata/NCR and the upgrade was to Microstrategy 7i. It also involved integration with a Plumtree web portal, adherence and integration with a sophisticated Netegrity security implementation and extensive customization.
Data Warehousing Implementation Profit and Loss responsibility for the consulting operation of this international consulting and systems integration organization. Directed project managers on the following projects: * Project manager and individual contributor for a data warehouse for a worldwide market leader in skin care, cosmetics and fragrances in a RedBrick/HP/EMC environment; all pre-development feasibility studies, design, sizing, scoping and vendor selection. Implementation including tools for ad hoc query, development and multi-dimensional analysis; implementation of an enterprise-wide intranet, with active, analytical capabilities delivered through web-enabled tools (MicroStrategy, Excel) for over 2,500 users * Project manager, design and development of a world-wide data warehouse, exceeding 1Tb of data, in Red Brick/HP/EMC, for one of the world's largest beverage companies * Design and development of a weekly sales data warehouse for both internal and competitive analysis of results for one the world's largest consumer products companies * Development of a data warehouse and DSS for a worldwide pharmaceutical company * Development of a data warehouse for debt rating information and development of a series of information services for the retail secondary market in municipals for a leading Wall Street firm * Development of an advanced planning system for an expanding communications company
