I head 8th Man Consulting’s Oracle EPM (Hyperion) Planning practice. This includes managing 8th Man Consulting’s Hyperion Planning consultants, clients, Hyperion Planning implementation projects in terms of managing teams, project management, and architecture and application design. I also have extensive experience in installation and configuration of Oracle EPM software, development of Planning applications and reports, integration, training and support. I manage and do ad-hoc customer support as well as head upgrade and enhancement projects at clients while managing, mentoring and training consultants. I facilitate internal as well as external training sessions on an ad-hoc basis. I also participate in pre-sales and I maintain good relationships with current clients to ensure continuity. Highlights since joining 8th Man Consulting: • Led and managed implementation of Oracle EPM System 11 Planning at South Africa’s leading vehicle tracking company, at the South African Reserve Bank and BancABC. • Manage and support clients where Planning or HFM has been implemented. • Regularly perform user and admin training. • Implementation and support of ETL tools like FDM and ODI to integrate meta data and data. • Did and lead various upgrades to later versions at Tracker, the SARB and AngloGold Ashanti.
During my employment at AngloGold Ashanti (1994 - 2008), from being an accountant on various gold mines to being Finance Systems Administrator in Corporate Finance, I was able to obtain extensive business experience, especially in budgeting, forecasting, business planning, cost control and also in management and financial reporting, system development and support. I was also able to manage people in various roles, mostly in higher positions than myself, in order to reach manage costs. Highlights at AngloGold Ashanti: • Operation Manager during HFM upgrade project – 9.2 to 9.3.1 which included moving from a SQL to an Oracle database. • Performed HFM application and technical administration and support across AngloGold Ashanti’s Local and international operations. • Maintained all Hyperion Budget and Business Plan Reports & Data, as well as business planning models for previous years on Hyperion Planning and Hyperion Essbase. • Development and support of Hyperion FDM and other supporting software to Hyperion Financial Management. • Responsible for Internal Controls and SOX compliance related to all the above functions. • Maintained and developed cost control and management reporting systems at Great Noligwa Mine. • Administrate budget processes on the mine and manage, monitor, and check all budget tasks while administrating the budget system. Support users and do analysis. • Automate forecasting by developing an in house system which replaced spreads sheets. Saved hours is reconciling and consolidating. • Manage Shift Overseers, Mine Overseers, Section Managers and subordinates to generate budgets, forecasts and to manage costs. • Do rate and variance analysis and write comments on cost and production variances for reporting to Corporate Finance. • Although project management is not my area of expertise, I have been able to perform project management on various projects where such resources were not available.
