Mission: To Promote the Patient Benefits of Sclerotherapy and the Education of Sclerotherapists Vision: To Be The Leading Voice for Sclerotherapy in the Western Hemisphere TransAmerican: Members welcome from North, Central, and South America. Sclerotherapy: Medical and Cosmetic Sclerotherapy Institute: Focus on Education and Best Practices The Transamerican Sclerotherapy Institute (TSI) is a charitable, not-for-profit 501(3)(c) organization run for the benefit of patients, the public, physicians, and allied health professionals. Over the last 25 years, the value of UGFS for treatment of Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI) is proven by hundreds of scientific articles and has gained worldwide popularity, however, UGFS is still not widely used nor well understood in the USA and in many parts of the world. Dr. John Bergan, a visionary vascular surgeon and pioneer of venous medicine, is quoted in 2008: “The advent of foam sclerotherapy has been one of the most important developments in the field of phlebology. Just as surgery has evolved into more minimal invasion, so has the treatment of varicose veins. Foam sclerotherapy is quick, efficient, easy to use and inexpensive, and is widely believed to become the dominant form of therapy for varicose veins.” However, UGFS is not generally promoted despite being a low cost, highly effective treatment for CVI. Physicians and other stakeholders with interest and expertise in UGFS have emerged as a distinct group, yet there is no "home" for us, until now. There are no accepted standards for professional development or practice for medical or cosmetic sclerotherapy. TSI members have access to continuing professional development through in person, virtual, and hybrid meetings, as well as electronic communications, mentoring, and networking. The role of TSI is to establish consensus on best practices and inform and educate members, patients and the public, the media, and other stakeholders.
