Chris Clarke is an independent art critic, writer and curator based in Vienna, Austria. Since 2018, he has worked as a curator with Innsbruck International Biennale of the Arts in Innsbruck, Austria. From 2009-2024, he was Senior Curator at The Glucksman, University of Cork, Ireland, and from 2005-2008 was Visual Arts Education Officer and Publications Officer at Cornerhouse, Manchester, England. He has worked with a number of contemporary artists in realising exhibitions, lectures, performances, events, workshops and courses, and is a frequent contributor to art journals and magazines including Art Monthly, VAN, Source and Photography and Culture. In the past he's written essays, reviews and interviews with artists including Uri Aran, Johanna Billing, Anna Boghiguian, Jasmina Cibic, James Coleman, Phil Collins, Guy Debord, Stan Douglas, Brendan Earley, Jesse Jones, Hiwa K, Mark Lewis, Ailbhe Ní Bhriain, Otobong Nkanga, Pipilotti Rist, Allan Sekula, and Michael Snow, as well as exhibitions including the Venice Biennale, Lyon Biennial, Berlin Biennial, Istanbul Biennial, Whitney Biennial, and Manifesta.
