Chris is an Associate Director in Design and Engineering, working in the Project Delivery Practice for Atkins. He is currently working as Programme Delivery Manager for Highways England Roads Investment Programme. Previously he has been part of an Engineering Management team and has spent the last 2 years managing Atkins’ design work on various high profile Engineering Projects, such as Hinkley Point C. He has extensive recent experience of major infrastructure projects and management of multi-disciplinary design teams following his previous role on the London Olympics 2012, working for CLM as one of the Structures, Bridges and Highways Design Managers. He has a background in heavy civil engineering particularly within the Roads, Rail, Bridges and Nuclear Sectors. Chris is a resourceful, articulate and dynamic team player, who provides clear communication and has the ability to influence resources whilst being involved at all levels to ultimately deliver successful Projects. Barnstable Western Bypass Contract Value £42M. Responsible for overseeing construction of 2.7KM of two lane carriageway, including 2 roundabouts. The main focus of the Project was the 410m five span Balanced cantilever post tensioned Bridge across the Taw Estuary, a SSSI area, utilising extensive temporary works including a Causeway, sheet piled cofferdams and temporary lift bridge. Additional works included 100m three span steel beam concrete composite deck Viaduct, two pedestrian underpasses, numerous culverts and mammal culverts. Earthworks included 80Km3 of cut/fill material and 100Km3 of import fill. Integrated Partnering approach strategy with Contractor leading a team of 6 ensuring and Certifying the works fully complied with Design and Clients requirements. Duties included overseeing Design query resolution process, monitoring progress of Design and Construction, carrying out Constructability reviews and ensuring all design deliverables were met. Close liaison with both the Design Teams, Contractor and the Client Devon County Council ensured the Design was produced with reference to the Contractors Clause 14 programme, thereby reducing delays and ensuring a win/win situation philosophy was adopted
Seconded to CLM Delivery Partner to the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA): Project Manager responsible for Design Management across all Infrastructure projects including Structures, Bridges & Highways, Landscape and Public Realm and Utilities; Overall responsibility of Professional services budget £74M ; Legacy Tranformation Design Manager – Scheme Design and Tender issue information followed by Contractor Tender query resolution; Head of SBH Document Control responsible for 4 no Document controllers; Head of Planning related issues for Structures, Bridges and Highways. In total 195 Applications for SBH submitted for Games; Ensuring Design across Infrastructure Projects are fully integrated into the Overall Park and its diverse Multi disciplines, including timely resolution of conflicts where appropriate, to minimise Contractor delay; Close out of Sub Projects following Construction Completion including: As Built drawings, Health and Safety files, Operational Manuals and Project Validation reports; Head of SBH CDMC; Head of SBH Site Supervisors; Head of SBH Construction Technical Services
