Highly experienced Head of Maintenance and Operational Estate with extensive experience in the hospital and healthcare sector. Currently responsible for managing a multi-location Community and Mental Health estate portfolio in partnership with an out-sourced commercial partner, delivering round-the-clock maintenance services and long-term life cycle asset replacement in a cost effective, safe and compliant way for all healthcare buildings and services. Management responsibility for transitioning the organisation's Hard FM provision to a fully 'in-sourced' and scalable model effective from 1st April 2021 in line with the forward view and future business aspirations of Solent NHS Trust.
After 35 years of operational maintenance and estate management experience within a large Acute NHS Trust in Southampton, I now operate across the entire UK health estate landscape providing Authorising Engineer and engineering consultancy services on behalf of Turner FM, Professional Engineering Services. I am highly experienced in all aspects of NHS estate operational management, delivery of a 365/24/7 maintenance provision via a diverse DEL and specialist sub-contractor workforce. Experienced in the installation, commissioning and operational maintenance and verification of specialised healthcare ventilation systems (including conventional and ultraclean operating theatres, isolation suites and CL3 facilities). I have operated for many years as Responsible Person (Water) managing Legionella, Pseudomonas and other waterborne pathogen risks within an acute healthcare setting. I also have vast experience with operating on a successful basis, evaporative cooling towers in a hospital environment. I currently hold Authorising Engineer qualification for: Healthcare Water Hygiene, Healthcare Ventilation, Medical Gas Pipeline Systems, Natural Gas, Steam/MTHW Boiler& Pressure Systems, Healthcare Electrical LV, Healthcare Lifts & Lifting Equipment and Confined Spaces.
Responsible for a comprehensive range of round-the-clock maintenance services, utilising a directly employed (70 strong) workforce and complimented by a specialist contractor base. Management of £7.2 million pound revenue budget.
